Service dog goes into labor at the airport and someone started recording

0

Airports are often filled with unexpected sights, but passengers at Tampa International Airport were in for a truly unique experience.

They witnessed an event unfold right before their eyes – a service dog named Eleanor Rigby, or Ellie, going into labor.

As passengers waited at Gate F80, the loyal and intelligent Labrador was about to become a mother.

Ellie, a beautiful Labrador, was accompanied by her owner, Diane Van Atter, and her mate, a Labrador named Golden Nugget.

The pregnant dog, much to everyone’s surprise, went into labor at the most unexpected time and place.

The airport terminal, usually filled with people engrossed in their devices or hurrying to their gates, was suddenly captivated by the miracle of birth unfolding before them.

As Ellie started giving birth, passengers were drawn away from their usual pre-flight activities.

Instead, they were enthralled by the spectacle of Ellie bringing new life into the world.

One passenger, who had been there since the birth of the fifth puppy, shared updates on Instagram, saying, “I was here since puppy five.

It’s on Instagram; We’re getting a lot of likes!”

Another passenger, Kristin Hamilton, also witnessed Ellie’s magical moment. She shared, “A Service Dog named Ellie, short for Eleanor Rigby caused quite a stir at Tampa airport yesterday.

The two-year-old yellow lab went into labor before boarding a plane to Philadelphia.

Tampa Fire Rescue delivered seven puppies; 6 girls and one boy. Congratulation to the new mom and safe travels.”

After a few hours, Ellie had given birth to eight puppies – seven males and one female.

Tampa Fire and Rescue were on hand to assist with the birth and ensure that everything went smoothly.

They closely monitored Ellie, ensuring her safety and health during the three-hour ordeal at Gate F80.

After the birth of the last puppy, all the newborns were checked and given a clean bill of health.

Paramedic Natalie Brown, who was present during the delivery, happily revealed to Fox News 13, “They have our names of course! And of course, the last one’s Natalie, it’s a girl!”

Her colleague, Larry Glanton, who was also nearby for the delivery, added, “And Number two is Larry.”

Ellie, and Golden Nugget missed their flight.

Most airlines have rules against allowing animals less than two days old to travel, and in some cases, the limit is two weeks.

So, Van Atter had no choice but to rent a car and drive home to Pennsylvania.

Despite the change in plans, Van Atter had the best company for her journey – ten incredibly cute dogs!

The video of this beautiful moment was posted online, and commenters were quick to weigh in.

Mom returns after 1 day away and German Shepherd can’t contain himself

0

German shepherds go from house dogs, bomb sniffers, airport security, and even war. Simply because they’re the best.

That’s because they are among the best breeds for being close to people not only in matters of the home, but in tasks that require intelligence, focus and responsibility.

Can’t go wrong with a GSD.

As Dogtime.com describes:

“They’re intelligent and capable working dogs. Their devotion and courage are unmatched. And they’re amazingly versatile, excelling at most anything they’re trained to do: guide and assistance work for the handicapped, police and military service, herding, search and rescue, drug detection, competitive obedience, and–last but not least–faithful companion.”

And that last bit, “faithful companion”, is what leads us to this adorable video of a dog and his mum reunited.

This is Johann, and let’s just say he experiences a little bit of separation anxiety when Mom goes away.

Sometimes, it doesn’t even take very long at all to set in.

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

When Mom goes away for 36 hours, it’s 36 hours too many for this precious pup.

It doesn’t say where Mom went, but it seems like to this dog she may as well have gone to the moon and back.

The way he’s reacting, it seems like he was convinced that she had left him forever.

Poor pup!

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

As soon as Johann sees that Mom has returned, he rushes out and begins whimpering with joy.

He cannot contain his excitement, and slowly, as the realization that she has actually returned overtakes him, he gets increasingly excited.

But how excited can a doggo actually get?

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

As it turns out… extremely!

This lady can’t even sit down without getting absolutely harassed by this affectionate dog.

When dogs get over-excited they seem to not know what to do with themselves, and this little guy is no exception.

Just bursts of affection all the time!

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

And he simply cannot stop grinning!

When the happy whimpers subside, he sits right on top of Mom and grins from ear to ear.

If that’s not the face of contentment, I don’t know what is!

Of course that doesn’t mean that he’s done loving on his mom!

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

Here come the loving licks! Our guy is not yet done saying hello.

Between periods of sittin’ and grinnin’, he still launches into sprees of getting all up into Mom’s grill.

“Aw this is true love”, she says between these sprees.

That’s one way to put it Mom!

Youtube Screenshot

Source:
Youtube Screenshot

But how could you be mad at a face like that!

With a big dumb grin, and smiling pant, Johann seems to be in a place he never wants to leave.

Or rather, he would not have his mom go anywhere at all.

Because to this dog, heaven is with mom.

Let’s hope she doesn’t plan on going anywhere else for a while.

Most doggy reunion videos have soldiers returning home for a furry reunion.

And deservedly so as they’re away for months or years.

But spend a day away from your dog and see how he reacts when you get back.

Imagine what months would do.

Baby elephant with beautiful blue eyes shows she fits in just about everywhere

The HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) TRUST started in 2021 after caring for elephants affected by conflicts with humans for 24 years.

In 2019, they built the HERD Orphanage to help young orphaned elephants find a home for rehabilitation and join an existing elephant family.

The elephants definitely keep them busy.

The Jabulani herd now has 16 elephants, with 11 being orphans and five born to the herd over 10 years ago.

The Jabulani Lodge, built in 2004, supports the herd through tourism earnings.

In 2021, they decided to bring together the Jabulani herd, HERD Homestead operations, and HERD Orphanage under the HERD Trust, a registered PBO, to get public funding for the elephants’ well-being.

HERD Trust is committed to helping local communities through education and development, empowering people nearby, and spreading awareness about elephant protection.

They are also active online, connecting with a global audience to educate more people about elephants.

Ladies and gentlemen meet the blue-eyed elephant, Khanyisa.

Khanyisa is a rare albino elephant calf with exceptionally beautiful blue eyes.

She was discovered caught in a snare with severe injuries in January 2020.

Her injuries showed that she had been struggling to free herself for a few days, with deep cuts on her neck, cheeks, and the top of her right ear.

YouTube Screenshot – The Dodo

She was found alone, with no sign of her herd.

From the start, Khanyisa quickly settled in at HERD, forming a close bond with Lammie, a loyal companion sheep.

After being rescued, her rescuers discovered that feeding Khanyisa was more challenging than usual due to her mouth injuries.

However, that didn’t stop them from giving her the best care possible, the team found the right angles to help her drink successfully.

Source:
YouTube Screenshot – The Dodo

The care team, along with wildlife veterinarian Dr. Peter Rogers, worked tirelessly for three months to treat and heal the calf’s wounds.

After her wounds had fully healed, the gradual process of integrating Khanyisa into the herd began.

It started with Jabulani, then Lundi, and eventually the entire group. Lundi was chosen as Khanyisa’s adoptive mother and embraced the role beautifully.

Khanyisa has thrived since her rescue, with healed wounds and deepened natural bonds with the herd.

When she was still little, she would usually spend her days from sunrise to sunset in the wild reserve with the elephants, and return to the homestead with the herd at night.

Khanyisa continued relying on milk formula from caregivers until she was weaned at around five years old.

Her name, Khanyisa, which means “Light” or “Sunshine” in the local Shona language, reflects her unique albino appearance.

Although Khanyisa is already turning five years old, she still remains a source of joy for HERD and her many loyal supporters worldwide!

YouTube Screenshot – The Dodo

Based on the HERD, October 2022, Khanyisa has already been released with her herd.

Her fans worldwide are still keeping track of her journey.

“Khanyisa now weighs 1,000 lbs and HERD is raising a new baby orphaned elephant ❤ and they do a lot of wonderful education work!, “one YouTube user wrote in the comments.

Another one wrote, “Herd has a new baby boy (ETA: his name is Phabeni,) who is currently integrating with the herd. They do a wonderful job, and their videos are so peaceful and educational.”

It sure looks like Khanyisa is no longer the baby of the HERD.

Anxious audience watches after Clydesdale horse falls in tangle-up during intense rodeo moment

When handling animals, expect the unexpected.

The biggest challenge of working with animals is that they can’t verbalize their needs.

Sometimes, even the most experienced handlers can experience trouble when working.

Audience members held their breath when a situation like this unfolded right before their eyes.

And while the team of horses is famous in their own right, this doesn’t exempt them from getting all tied up.

The Budweiser Clydesdales are one of the most iconic animal teams in the world.

You can almost say that they’re almost as famous as the reindeer team pulling on Santa’s sleigh.

This prestige meant that they get to go on events, especially those that involve other animals.

The Clydesdales attended the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

Then, as they were introduced to the audience, two horses became noticeably antsy.

The two lead horses began to turn.

The horses who went rogue began to turn and fold the queue in itself.

It happened so quickly that it was too late when the handlers realized what was happening.

The pair tried to shove their way between the second and third horses.

With straps and yokes in place, it didn’t take long before the herd became a tangled mess of straps.

The horses, weighing around 1,800 to 2,300 pounds, fell on top of one another.

Handlers from outside the field rushed in to help and stop the rest of the herd from panicking.

While the event didn’t descend into a stampede, it was enough to make the audience anxious and stressed.

To calm the crowd, the announcer assured them that while this was unexpected, it was not entirely beyond the capabilities of the handlers.

“Anytime you are in the rodeo business, the livestock business, when you are working with animals you never know what can happen,” The announcer can be heard saying in the video. “Everybody think positive.”

The straps were so tangled up that the handlers had no choice but to unstrap the horses.

The next minutes of the videos showed the handlers unhitching the horses pair by pair. The other members of the team, meanwhile, tried to soothe the downed horse.

The two remaining pairs and the wagon was taken to the side to give the downed horse more space to recover.

In the last minute of the video, the crowd cheered when the horse finally got back on its feet.

Anheuser-Busch, the company managing the Budweiser brand, said in a statement that no horses were injured.

Their team of veterinarians carefully examined the horse that fell.

Mama elephant melts hearts with ‘sweet way’ she protects beloved baby from danger

Elephants are remarkable creatures, celebrated for their size, intelligence, and emotional depth.

Their strong social bonds and relationships are akin to those of chimpanzees and gorillas.

They exhibit a complex range of behaviors as they protect their young with dedication and interact warmly with other members of the herd.

Elephants also display profound empathy and loyalty, forging lifelong connections that strengthen their familial ties.

A particularly fascinating aspect of their behavior is their strong maternal instincts.

Mother elephants will go to great lengths to safeguard their calves.

They remain vigilant, ensuring that the calves stay within the protective circle of the herd.

This level of protection is crucial, especially as young elephants are naturally curious and prone to wandering, often unaware of the potential dangers around them.

This careful supervision is not just the mother’s responsibility but often a shared effort by the entire herd.

Elephants possess an extensive emotional range, allowing them to maintain their complex social structure.

They mourn deceased loved ones, often returning to their remains years later.

Their grief can be felt by anyone, and their rituals include gathering around and touching the remains gently.

They also display joy, playfulness, and anger, using these emotions to bond, protect their offspring, and maintain harmony in the herd.

Dedicated lion mama melts hearts with her adorable ‘tree-climbing’ lessons with cubs

0

A heartwarming video from MalaMala Game Reserve showcases a rare and captivating sight: a mother lioness teaching her four tiny cubs to climb a tree.

Shared by Michael Moth, a guide at MalaMala, the footage captures a unique and touching moment in the animal kingdom.

It shows the nurturing, parental side of the most famous big cat, and offers a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of Africa’s apex predator.

YouTube Screenshot

Lions are typically known for their prowess on the ground, unlike leopards, who are adept climbers.

Seeing lions in trees is an unusual sight, often occurring only when they are trying to scavenge from leopards or engaging in playful behavior.

This makes the mother lioness’s effort to teach her cubs to climb a fascinating deviation from the norm, showcasing her adaptability and the playful nature of the cubs.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

The video begins with the mother lioness perched gracefully on a tree branch, calling out to her cubs below.

Her calls are filled with encouragement and a sense of urgency, coaxing the cubs to follow her lead.

The cubs, though excited and eager, circle the base of the tree, hesitating as they look up at their mother.

This initial hesitation reflects their cautious curiosity and the challenge ahead.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

Initially, the cubs start small, practicing their climbing skills on a fallen branch nearby.

This smaller challenge serves as a warm-up, helping them build confidence and coordination.

The mother lioness watches over them, urging for them to push their limits.

This practice session is a crucial step in their learning process.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

With their initial practice done, the mother lioness gently encourages her cubs to attempt climbing the main tree.

This skill is not common among lions, making this teaching moment particularly special.

The cubs, full of determination and curiosity, start their ascent, with their goal being to reach Mama at the top.

This lesson is one they’ll take with them to adulthood, where they won’t always have Mama to look after them.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

Among the cubs, one particularly determined youngster manages to climb up to its mother.

The lioness greets this success with affectionate approval, nuzzling the cub as if to say, “Well done.”

This cub took its first step into a bigger world, one where it’ll learn to survive and fend for itself.

It highlights the close bond and the rewards of perseverance.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

The other cubs, despite their best efforts, do not reach as high as their sibling.

They scrabble and claw at the bark with both frustration and determination.

Momma continues to encourage them from above to climb up to her. This is the real world, and climbing is one of the first lessons.

YouTube Screenshot

Source:
YouTube Screenshot

The video concludes with the mother lioness gracefully descending the tree, with what seems like a visible sense of pride to her movement.

Her cubs, having made their first real attempts at climbing, follow her down.

Each one has learned a valuable skill that, while uncommon, may prove beneficial for their survival in the wild.

This descent marks the end of their lesson and a new beginning in their development.

The touching scene is encapsulated by a viewer’s comment: “Awww… this is so heartwarming. The tenderness with which a fierce animal guides her cubs, encouraging them while staying alert, shows that mothers are the same across species.”

This observation beautifully captures the essence of the moment, and is a nice glimpse into the other ways big cats raise their young.

With luck, more people should leave with a newfound appreciation for Africa’s biggest cat after seeing this.

As Jules swam through the familiar waters, she felt a gentle tug on her hand.

Looking down, she saw the octopus reaching out to her, almost as if inviting her to follow.

Intrigued and slightly bemused, she decided to go along with it.

This wasn’t a typical behavior she encountered from marine life, and the curiosity was mutual.

The octopus led her away from her usual path, navigating through the underwater landscape with surprising intention.

The journey was fascinating.

Every few moments, the octopus would glance back, ensuring Jules was still following.

This consistent checking-in was unlike anything she had seen before, displaying a level of awareness and consideration that was truly remarkable.

Jules couldn’t help but feel a bond forming, as if this creature understood more than it let on.

The underwater world, typically serene and predictable, was now filled with an air of mystery and anticipation.

After some time, they arrived at an area marked by two metal stakes and a stone structure.

Jules had never noticed this spot before, despite her extensive dives in these waters.

The octopus moved gracefully around the structure, seemingly guiding her attention to specific details.

There, amidst the marine environment, was a photo of a man holding a white fluffy dog.

It was an unexpected sight in the depths of the ocean.

Van tosses out bundle of ‘trash’ but when it starts moving teen dodges traffic to save it

0

Abandoning an animal is terrible in itself, but tossing it out of a moving vehicle? It’s infuriating that some people have done that. Most of the time, they get away with it while the poor animal is left hurt.

An incident like this happened on a highway in Michigan.

WZZM13

Source:
WZZM13

Fourteen-year-old Gavin Orlowski and his mother were driving through Interstate 196, Michigan on a Sunday to drive to a birthday party. While on their way, they didn’t expect to see something that made them stop in the middle of the road.

“I hear my mom…she’s driving, and I’m in the passenger seat and she’s like [gasp],” Orlowski said.

It was a poor cat being thrown out of the van in front of the mother and son.

The cat managed to hang on and so the teenager went out to get the cat.

WZZM13

WZZM13

The thrown cat managed to slip out of traffic and survived. Gavin however, knew thought that he needed to get the cat, and so he did without any hesitation. The boy bolted out of their car, not caring that they stopped traffic at I-196.

WZZM13

WZZM13

He caught up with the cat, only this time, the poor feline was now “hanging off the over-bridge.” However, it just gave the boy more reason to save the cat. Gavin held up his hand and grabbed the cat just on time then took it to their car. There’s no one reckless enough to do a thing like this, and we’re glad that this boy did.

At that moment, the driver was already gone.

WZZM13

WZZM13

Gavin and his mother still tried to find the person responsible for throwing the cat off the highway, unfortunately, who knew how far that person had gotten after the incident.

“It was gone, the truck just bolted out of there,” Orlowski said. “Why wouldn’t you just let a cat go, at least just let him go, not just throw him off a bridge.”

It’s hopeless to try and search for the culprit, but they knew that there’s plenty of ways to help the poor cat.

They got him checked at the veterinary and heard a series of relieving news.

WZZM13

WZZM13

The family rushed him to BluePearl Animal Hospital as recommended by their friend. After the check-up was conducted, the doctor told them that there’s nothing wrong with him except the nails that were torn off after grasping on asphalt.

They were already happy about this news, but soon after, they heard another one that put their hearts at ease. The receptionist walks in and says,

“Mrs. Brown we just received a phone call from one of your Facebook friends to cover, basically all of the bills,’” Orlowski shared.

After hearing a series of good news, they decided to adopt the cat, and they also named him Lucky.

How lucky can this cat get?

WZZM13

First, he managed to slip through traffic without suffering from any major injuries, the boy saved him just on time before he fell from the bridge, and finally, his rescuer eventually became his family and his life-long friend.

No wonder they named him Lucky. It was the perfect name for this odds-defying cat. Furthermore, his new family is more than lucky to have him.

Couple take in abandoned calf and now he thinks he’s a dog

0

In a serene cattle farm enveloped by the woods, a heartwarming story unfolds with Adam and Emily Hopson, who stumble upon a newborn calf abandoned under unusual circumstances.

Named James, this calf is a Scottish Highland with a unique survival tale.

Born in a challenging setting, James suffered from oxygen deprivation early on, which led to brain damage and hindered his natural instincts, like bonding with his mother.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

From his first moments, James’s life was set on an unconventional path.

He struggled to feed from his mother and was confused about his cow instincts.

He was closely watched by his human caretakers, Adam and Emily.

Observing his repeated failures to nurse naturally, they made a heartfelt decision to raise him themselves, marking the beginning of his unique behaviors and quirky personality.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

Living inside the Hopson’s home, James’s earliest social interactions were with the family dogs rather than other calves.

This upbringing led him to adopt behaviors more typical of a pet than a farm animal.

He grew up believing he was part of the canine family, blurring the lines of his bovine identity in the most heartwarming, if confusing, ways.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

As he matured, the physical differences between James and his canine siblings became starkly apparent.

His playful nudges, natural for a calf, were too rough for the dogs.

This necessitated another shift in his living situation to ensure the safety and comfort of both James and his adoptive siblings, highlighting the complexities of his upbringing.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

Attempts to reintegrate James with other cattle were fraught with challenges.

Met with either indifference or aggression, he struggled to find acceptance among his kind, deepening his identity crisis.

The Hopsons then placed him in a pen with less intimidating animals, like chickens, where he could safely interact without overwhelming them.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

In a bid to alleviate his loneliness, the Hopsons introduced James to other orphaned calves, hoping to foster some connection.

However, the herd dynamics did not change, and James remained largely isolated.

He was stuck in his unique circumstances and still showing more canine than bovine traits.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

Despite these ongoing challenges, James’s behavior continued to mirror that of a household dog.

It was further evidence of his upbringing alongside the Hopson’s dogs.

His story shows the significant impact early experiences can have on animal behavior, showing that nurture can sometimes overpower nature.

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

This unique situation garnered wide attention, with a video of James’s life reaching 1.7 million views.

People were drawn not just to his charming antics but also to the deep care provided by the Hopsons.

A viewer’s comment encapsulates the sentiment:

“Just how precious. As long as he’s loved, who cares. I love it.”

YouTube

Source:
YouTube

James’s ongoing story is a reminder of the complexities surrounding animal welfare and human intervention.

It challenges traditional views on animal behavior, promoting a discussion on adaptability, acceptance, and the profound impact of love across species lines.

As James continues to chase chickens and occasionally mingle with other calves, his life poses essential questions about identity, acceptance, and what it means to be truly loved.

Dad leaves backyard gate open and 200 ‘intruders’ hilariously come right in

Erin Russo told Bored Panda, “Once a year they graze for two or three days to clear the overgrowth.”

She had never heard of them wandering into anyone’s yard before.

But, as they soon discovered, these sheep had a mind of their own!

“The curious sheep were peeking their heads in our back gate for a while but would scamper off as soon as they saw us. Then one came in, which became a dozen in the blink of an eye, and then hundreds,” Erin recalled.

Before they knew it, their yard was flooded with these uninvited guests.

Dad Scott Russo, ever the entertainer, captured the entire sheep invasion on camera.

He tried everything to get them to leave – from shouting at them to making sheep noises himself.

But these sheep weren’t easily persuaded.

Scott’s hilarious narration added a comedic touch to the situation, even though Erin wasn’t quite as amused.

Scott seemed to be pretty “entertained” by what was going on, but Erin was a bit “nervous.”

While Scott was busy playing shepherd, Erin quickly ushered their daughters to safety inside the house.

The girls, aged 4 and 5, found the whole situation hilarious, exclaiming, “Daddy let the leader in!”

In a creative attempt to drive the sheep away, Erin jumped on the trampoline and waved a tambourine.

She thought the loud noise might do the trick. And she was right!

With Scott leading the way and Erin making noise, the sheep finally began to leave.

“It all happened so fast,” Scott shared with Bored Panda.

“It went from funny to freakout real quick, but looking back I was pretty calm about it all.”

There was a moment of panic when it looked like the departing sheep might damage the fence, but they managed to exit without causing any harm.

Fortunately, the herd of sheep wasn’t there for more than a few minutes.

Turns out, they don’t like the sound of a shaking tambourine, which is something the family should probably keep in mind.

Or just remember to keep the gate closed!

Although they didn’t intend for all the sheep to storm their yard, it did lead to some hilarious and memorable footage.
