It’s estimated there are around 270,000 Amish people living across the US. This is a number that’s only set to grow and is largely thanks to the fact that families often have several children. Wikipedia claims it’s common for families to have an average of seven children per household and that around 80% of Amish people are involved with their church.

Even though there are several Amish communities living across America, not everyone knows what it’s like behind closed doors – even though they have intrigued so many over the years. Sadly, not everyone is happy with their life within the Amish community, especially one woman from Texas, who decided it was time to escape her life as an Amish member.

Emma Gingerich was determined to break away from her Amish community

All of us want something different from life. Some of us want to be surrounded by riches. Others hope to meet the love of their lives and start a family. Some even hope to travel the world and see what’s out there across the planet. However, others are just looking for happiness. That was the case for Emma Gingerich.

Her entire life was pretty different from what most of us know as Emma grew up in an Amish community. That was until she made it her goal to escape the lifestyle and find out what life was like in the rest of the world. Emma had high hopes of becoming more than the roles that had been set for her by the community.
